About

Our Story

Natty Hatty was born of a necessity for summer camp jerseys. With the help of a fellow hockey enthusiast, parent, and mentor… James Bond at Undefeated, we had our first inauguration of the logo in 2017. As camps continued to grow and sweater designs started to vary, we began to consider the idea of something bigger. With a knowledge of graphic design, a love for the game, making rink renovations during covid, and securing the lobby for our flagship store and pro shop, we set out to build this brand.
While a big assist, hit, save, or fight may be just as important as a goal, we believe a Natty Hatty is always something worth striving for because if you do something good three times in a row, you’re probably doing something right.
To anyone who has or is supporting this dream: we thank and wish you the same great effect, memories, and recreation that hockey and her community have had in our lives.
Sincerely,

Kelly Stirzel & Taylor Sutherlin

Shout Out’s

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and Natty Hatty wasn’t built without these absolute beauties. We cannot thank these gentleman enough for their constant support over the years. People like these, are the reason we do what we do everyday.

Randahl Fitts – Man, Myth, Legend.

Randahl has been with Natty Hatty through thick and thin. A California native and veteran to boot, he has helped us build not only a better rink, but a better program, a better facility, and an awesome shop. He’s on the newer side to hockey, taking on the sport at the tender age of 65, but you better believe we decked him out helmet to skates when he showed an interest after being at the rink so often. Now you just may see him rippin’ hot laps at open skate, patrolling the blue lines at stick time, or taking care of you at the pro shop w/ a smile on his face and a story to tell. He is the true definition of a man, and we could not be more thankful to and for him.

James Bond – undefeated.com

Not knowing James’ reputation, one day after his son’s mite tournament game I asked James what he did for a living. He told me he owned and operated a streetwear brand called undefeated. With my background in graphic design we spoke about the business and my interest in creating a hockey brand one day for hockey players. For about a year I learned and became more knowledgable on James and his profession. For the entire summer of 2014 I worked on a packet/proposal for the idea of Undefeated Hockey Camps and Apparel. Once James saw my work he offered to bring me in as a graphic design intern for Undefeated. After one year of learning the ropes I was offered a position. Still to this day I help undefeated with sponsorship projects, hockey related kits, gear and collaborations. James mentorship helped me build the knowledge and confidence to create my own brand/business Natty Hatty. There is no denying without his constant support, the Natty Hatty brand would not exist today. I hope one day I can give the mentorship and guidance he gave me to another upcoming entrepreneur with a dream.

Greg Titsworth – Yes, it’s real.

Greg is our rink rock. When we realized how important he was to the daily rinkorial demands we set out on a path to make his job easier and his working conditions better. We built him a new work bench, got him a new tool cabinet, and new tools to use so he could take home his own. This turned out to be a very good investment. He responded by bringing in his welding equipment thus sparking the idea for the display fixtures you see in the shop today. He mostly works mornings but if you can catch him in-between doing the job of two men please thank him for holding what was a bowling alley built in the 70s, hummin and runnin as a hockey rink in the 2020’s.

Jose Gonzalez – 818-620-4540

Jose is a living electrical legend. When building the shop we did everything possible to maximize the space we had available. One thing we couldn’t solve with a trusty hammer and nails was a giant electrical routing box cramping the work area. We had a company quote us that to reroute it they would have to shut down power to the entire rink for three days and two others who simply said no. We almost gave up and would have had a completely different layout… Jose did it in one night for half the price. Needless to say he became our go to guy for anything looking to shock us.

Jayme Burtis – @jbvision

Jayme is what we call an OG. He put four awesome kids through our organization and has helped out with so much more than hockey along the way. From building a shooting range out back, to taking team photos on and off the ice, and pulling all nighters at his wood shop building our custom counter for the pro shop. He truly is one cool dude and a dedicated father to many activities. He makes incredible cabinetry, loves photography, and has been a street artist since he can remember. Check him out online.

Edwin Cachon – @3ds.marble_and_tile

Edwin is the type of parent that can be just as important to a team as the kid who’s scoring the big goals. He’s humble, makes light of mishaps, communicates face to face, always lends a helping hand, and at the end of the day, aims to hold his own kid accountable before looking to place the blame elsewhere. We’ve known him since losing his mentor and partner at his last company, to going out and building his own. He has cut us countless cherished countertops, and we highly recommend him for anything made of stone. Or marble. Or quartz. Or granite. Or… you get the point.
